Though GeoCats is a student-run blog, all affiliates of the Department of Geography at Texas State University are welcome to submit to us! Our goal is to build a positive, professional, and representative platform for Texas State Geography voices. Please read our submission guidelines (below) before submitting your work.

When you’re ready to submit a post, please complete the submission form.
You are welcome to submit multiple posts, but each will require its own submission form. If you have any questions, please email co-editors Chris Pierce and Grayson Wylie.

Submission Guidelines

Need ideas? We would love to read about your:

  • Fieldwork
  • Upcoming publications
  • Other research or class projects
  • Awards and scholarships
  • Study abroad experience
  • Geography student life
  • Internship(s)
  • Favorite things to do around town
  • Geographical adventures
  • Software expertise or advice (ERDAS, ArcGIS, R, JMP, and so on)
  • Geography student and professional organization news

What to submit:

  • Text posts in an informal but professional writing style (recommended 200-2,000 words)
  • Photos, videos, or other figures and media
